Late 1800’s Cobweb Tied Quilt

Description

This very visual quilt is about 68 by 79 inches. It was hanging on a wall in Santa Fe when purchased about 26 years ago. From being hung on the wall, there is a slight overall fade to the quilt. It is very heavy with thick batting. The top border has a few holes as are shown in the photos. There are a few wool pieces that also have a few moth eaten small holes – one is a green piece that can be seen in the photo that shows the side border. There is one dark brown piece that has completely shattered so that only the batting is visible (see last photo). The quilt is tied with a gold colored heavy embroidery floss type thread and is a great collection of fabrics from the late 1800’s. The quilt is all hand stitched. The back is a stunning blue print.
