Rayon & Silk Crazy Quilt

Description

Crazy quilt made from rayon and silk pieces outlined with a chevron style stitch in various colors and tied with red thread. It appears that many of the pieces are from men’s neckties.

The border is a red sateen which is machine stitched. The back of the quilt is gray stripe flannel. There are a few painted decorations on some of the pieces and there are some small holes on the front of the quilt that appear to be moth eaten. (One of the photos shows the holes on one of the pieces.) One of the yellow and white on navy blue prints (as shown in one of the photos) has been stabilized with silk crepeline to prevent further deterioration. There is a light yellow stain on one of the white pieces as shown in the photo. The quilt measures about 84 inches wide and 88 inches long.
