Maxine Elliott (1868-1940) Zira Cigarettes Cigarette Silk. The top of the silk reads “Factory No. 7, 5th Dist. N.J.” Cigarette silks were used as promotional items. Born Jessie Dermott, Maxine was an American stage actress from 1890 to 1920. In 1908 she was the only woman in the U.S. to won her own theater. This silk is a light orange color.
