Description

Black and white print with ovals and circles. This piece is 12 inches wide by 42 inches long. One edge has previously been machine stitched. There is a small faded line at one end of one of the piece.

William Simpson began the Print Works in the Philadelphia area about 1835. The Print Works printed calico and silk and later changed its name to Washington Print Works. In 1870, the American Institute of New York awarded its Bronze Metal to William Simpson and Sons for “The Best Fast Blacks and Mourning Prints”.
